Oral Motor Institute

WELCOME!

The OMI is established to publish monographs that demonstrate the evidence base of oral sensory and motor techniques for articulation, motor speech, and feeding treatment. Its mission is to contribute to the field of speech-language-hearing science by expanding our knowledge about the sensory and motor components of articulation, motor speech, and feeding development, disorders, assessment and treatment. Learn more...

The Oral Motor Institute was founded by Pam Marshalla, MA, CCC-SLP, and Diane Bahr, MS, CCC-SLP, CMT, CIMI, in 2007, who found that the field of speech-language-hearing sciences was in need of more information on the evidence base of oral sensory and motor techniques for articulation, motor speech, and feeding treatment.

In 2014, Pam and Diane stepped down as Co-Chairs of the Board of Directors and nominated Robyn Merkel-Walsh, MA, CCC-SLP, for the position of Board Chair.

It is with a heavy heart that we announce that, in June, 2015, Pam Marshalla passed away after a long battle with leukemia. The OMI strives to honor her memory in all of our efforts. A message from our board chair, Robyn Merkel-Walsh:

Pam, my mentor and friend, left me a very important job to oversee. I want to assure all OMI subscribers that I have been working diligently over the past year months to carry on Pam's work and contributions to our field. While I will never be able to replace Pam, I am certainly going to try to make her proud! - Robyn

Steve Sacks, Board Member, has written a beautiful tribute to our beloved Pam Marshalla who founded the OMI
